When we travel overseas, we are used to seeing and (those blessed with a strong constitution) eating cheap street-food. But if you thought the closest street-food stall was a 9 hour plane ride away, think again! A few weeks ago for date-night, I had to plan a fun night out in the City without busting the budget after all the big spending we'd been doing. I think I did pretty well. This is what I came up with:
Drinks
Not extactly "street", but the Rooftop Bar on Swanston Street is a local favourite. The perfect spot for drinks on a beautiful summer night and if you choose well you won't spend more than $10 for your pre-dinner drinks.
Main Course
Melbourne's best Burgers with great city views!
Mr. Burger Truck at Fed Square |
Our view as we enjoyed dinner! |
Dessert
A French dessert is always a great way to end a meal.
La Petite Creperie on Swanston St |
Drinks: Apple Cider $5.50
Main Coure to share: Burger $10, Fries & a drink to share $5
Dessert to share: French Crepe with Nutella $5
Date Night Food Total: $20.50pp
Plus we got to burn some of the calories we consumed by walking around the city. I firmly believe, you don't have to spend a lot of money to have fun - you just have to think creatively. :)
